5 ways to set up your workspace for abundance

Your workspace and office are the visual representation of your career and finances. The space where you work must spark joy, creativity, and abundance.

Abundance is sparked in the imagination long before it becomes your reality.

But if your surroundings aren’t conditioned for success, prosperity, and clarity—you may be experiencing stress, indecisiveness, and career limitations.

I found myself in this exact position three years ago. I was at a crossroad in my career—feeling completely confused and limited.

But once I understood the power of creating space and making room for God, I started to clear the way for God and abundance to find its way to me. And once it found its way to me, my life has been upgraded and blessed in unimaginable ways.

So, if you’ve found yourself unable to get ahead at work, find a purposeful career path, increase your money or grow your business— try these simple, yet proven techniques, that were birthed directly out of my own personal experience and begin to make room for prosperity.

1. Clear the paperwork and outstanding bills and balances.
This is the most impactful act you can do for yourself and your office. By removing the paperwork clutter, you invite Chi, or energy, to flow freely through your workspace. Now, this can (and probably will be) an overwhelming process. I suggest you start little by little.

Begin by going through the pile of paperwork on your desk. Separate it in to 4 categories: FILE, ACTION, SHRED, RECYCLE. As you do this process, think about what paperwork or information you really need to keep. Most of have a lot “just in case” paperwork that can probably can be released.

When my youngest son Miles was an infant, he had two emergency surgeries on his chest. I hung on to EVERY SINGLE MEDICAL DOCUMENT I received during this time, primarily out of fear and “just in case” something were to happen again the doctor would have this information. Then last month I realized I don’t need this giant box of medical data. My son is now completely healthy, happy and currently doing backflips off the ottoman. I don’t want to INVITE any more surgeries or medical mishaps in his life. It’s ok for me to let this all go.

By letting this go, I was signaling to the Universe that my son is thriving and I have complete trust that if ever he needs to have another surgery that God will provide the right people and resources to ensure that all goes well. So this is all to say if something has been paid, settled or cancelled—let it be, let it go.

Directly tied to your paperwork is tying up any loose financial ends. Again, our goal is to call in more abundance into our lives so we want the energy of our finances to be reflective of what we are calling in. So paying bills and invoices on time, settling parking tickets, and cancelling subscription services we aren’t using, are all signals of financial well-being. Don’t fall into the trap of “taking care of it later”. Pause and take care of it now.

My husband Marq and I use to always fall into this trap. Once we were behind on paying the maintenance fees for our time share. It was large lump sum that was due every two years but we simply didn’t have the money to pay it. So what did we do? We ignored the notices. And I use the word ignored loosely. I tried to ignore all the notices but in the back of my mind it was there—lingering and taking up subconscious mental space. But, when I finally realized the connection between abundance and paperwork clutter, I knew I had to take care of this issue immediately.

I reached out to the company to see what our options were. We didn’t have the money to make the one large payment so they made a special arrangement where we could pay on a payment plan instead. This was such a huge relief!! It had been lingering over my head for months and a simple phone call was all that was needed. They even waived the $85 late fee that we we’re charged. When situations like this arise, we often create the worst possible, complex situations in our head when usually the solution is quite simple.

2. Add life, add a plant.
There’s something about plants that just totally brings a room to life. Seriously, I have about 10 plants throughout my home and they bring me so much joy! Having plants decreases stress and, in turn increases productivity. And plants like ferns and snake plants (my fave) improves air quality and helps filter out environmental toxins. And with all the Coronavirus madness going on, adding a plant can help you stay sane and toxin free.

3. Open your work day with prayer and a deep intention for abundance, service and flow.

Before I begin any design or organizing project, I always set my intention to deeply serve my clients and to increase my own personal joy. And honestly, I feel that way EVERY SINGLE TIME. By setting this intention and releasing it to the Divine, I find that my work flow is always much smoother and filled with so much joy and love.

I seriously get emotional sometimes when I’m working on projects. I’m able to change and richly impact the lives of my clients and serve them on a deep, personal level. It is the most fulfilling feeling and the true definition of flow. And through that flow and service, I am able to receive all that God has destined for me to receive.

4. Listen to Nature Sounds.
This is a tip I learned a few weeks ago while listening to a random podcast and it has done wonders for my productivity.

Listening to real life nature sounds as you work boosts your creativity.

I don’t the know the science behind it but I sure it has something to do with relaxing your nervous system. But I also think that at our core, we come from nature. We are familiar with it. That’s why so many people love to get out of the city and in to nature. Because it feels like home.

Even as I type this on an early Thursday morning in Los Angeles, I am listening the rain. It’s peaceful and calming. Allowing my calm energy to be clearly expressed through these words. If it’s not currently raining in your city or you don’t have birds chirping outside your window, searching “real nature sounds” on YouTube will do the trick.

5. Surround yourself with items that represent your dreams.
What does your desk say about you right now? Does it say you’re a career woman on the rise? Does it reflect where you're headed? Does it inspire or motivate you? If not, it’s time to let go of items that don’t represent what you are calling in. This could be books, old magazines or an old filing cabinet.

Add things that make you smile. Maybe it can be a certain color, a picture your dream vacation spot as your screensaver or maybe it’s a quote or an inspiring image hung somewhere.

For me it’s my cute little mauve pink stool. My “office” (heavy quotations lol) is in our primary bedroom. Due to space, I can’t have a normal size office chair. I can only have a small stool so it can be tucked under my desk when I’m done working.

Although my office conditions aren’t ideal, I love the little space I’ve created and my favorite thing about it is that mauve pink office stool! It’s comfy, so totally my brand color and it just makes me smile.

So although I have visions of a great office and studio space, I am totally pleased with what I have now all while simultaneously being eager for more.

I call it my moffice (master bedroom/office).

Your office is the place where you should feel productive and focused, where you can let your creativity flow, and the place where you can create income to support your livelihood.

But you must create ROOM for the creativity and abundance to flow. Once you try one or all of these things, let me know! I love hearing how you guys take this information and apply it in your own life.
